Update: To a successful Youthday - 16 June 2021.
Our staff made the pre-youthday, on Tuesday, one to remember!
What an unforgettable experience for our learners/beneficiaries at our centre - filled with lots of fun and laughter!
First we had them paint the South African flag, and afterwards our staff entertained them with lovely music and costumes!

‘The only disability is a BAD ATTITUDE’
"At the end of August, the senior members from Jo-Dolphin Swartland APD in Malmesbury visited the Swartland Community Sport Centre. The group came to join the daily 11:00 am aerobics session at the Centre – and WOW, did they have FUN! The youngsters arrived early, ready for action… and while waiting for the aerobics to start, enjoyed playing various ball games.
Volleyballs, tennis balls and basketballs filled the centre together with the sound of laughter - and cheers when someone scored a goal or got the ball into the basket. Then the music started, and it was time for aerobics. And the fun continued… with some of the regulars truly impressed by these new young participants."

"Children at Jo-Dolphin a pleasure"
With intro International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which is celebrated on 3 December, Swartland Gazette spoke to role players who know what it is like to live with a disability or work daily with people affected by it. Jo-Dolphin-Swartland, a center for people with disabilities, officially opened its doors in Malmesbury on 8 November 2008. This day care center offers various activities where they try to teach the children, as well as the adults, life skills that can help them enjoy a full life.
Estrellita Geldenhuys, head of this day care center, explains that there are definitely stressful times, but says the following about what keeps her motivated: “I do not have children, but the first day when I arrived here and the children ran to me, I could not help but fall in love with them. I don't even see them touching their disabilities anymore. I just love them unconditionally. ”

"Jo-Dolphin benefits during lockdown"
"We as staff, have made a list of the positive lessons of Covid-19. There were many, but I excluded three: Gratitude to our Creator for His preservation over all of us - for health, the finances to pay salaries, and to keep Jo-Dolphin's doors open; the value of touch; and the value of things that have become obvious.”

"SlimSun's hearts beat for Jo Dolphin"
At the Jo Dolphin Center for People with Disabilities in Malmesbury, there are numerous challenges. But, just like the challenges, there are also numerous highlights. One such highlight was the donation that the center recently received from SlimSun Solar Park.
They made a donation of approximately R15 000 to the center and also spent time with the members of Jo Dolphin. This center strives for the care and empowerment of people with disabilities. They care for learners who suffer from rare syndromes, such as Rhett and Angelman syndrome.
"This is extremely rare and it is sometimes very difficult to look at the beautiful children and realize what they have to go through every day. "Not only them, but also their parents. It is truly a belt under our hearts that companies like SlimSun take pity on us and also make such a difference in the lives of the learners, ”says Estrellita Geldenhuys, center manager of Jo Dolphin.
